A tower of dwelling at Azabudai Hills

Azabudai, Minato City, Tokyo. Among the several towers that make up the “Azabudai Hills” redevelopment, the one carrying the residential function is this Residence B. With 64 floors above ground and a height of about 263 meters, this residential tower, developed by Mori Building and others, is said to be the tallest tower mansion in Japan at the time of its completion.

At Azabudai Hills, the Mori JP Tower rises as Japan’s tallest supertall office building; alongside it, Residence B stands as a place to live. Within a district where office, residential, retail, cultural and green functions coexist, it is the building that stacks the function of dwelling vertically.

Height and the idea of “Hills”

The Azabudai area originally had an undulating topography, and the development as a whole carries through the “Hills” idea of combining low-rise greenery with high-rise towers. Greenery and pedestrian spaces spread at the foot of Residence B as well, so the tower does not stand up abruptly from the ground but seems to rise from atop a gentle hill.

This blog looks at residences through architecture and streetscape rather than prices or investment. That a residential tower reaches this height is itself one milestone showing how far central-Tokyo living has risen vertically. Even among the supertall cluster of Minato City, its height stands out.

Summary

Azabudai Hills Residence B is a tower mansion completed in 2025, with 64 floors above ground, 5 below, and a height of about 263 meters. Born as the residential tower of Mori Building’s Azabudai Hills, it is said to be Japan’s tallest tower mansion at completion.

When you visit Azabudai Hills, after your eyes are drawn to the height of the Mori JP Tower, turn them also to the tower of dwelling standing right beside it. The height of “living” in the city center rises there.
